MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A man faces multiple gun charges after a fight in Mount Vernon.
Officers responded to Deebee’s on February 4 around 1:30am, for a report of a fight and one person armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male, 30 year old Timmel Porter.
Porter fled and during the chase, officers observed Porter discard a loaded and stolen firearm. The firearm had been reported stolen to the department back in November.
Porter has been incarcerated in the Jefferson County Justice Center on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Armed Habitual Criminal.
Porter was held with no bond pending a court appearance.
