Herrin standoff ends peacefully

HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – One person is in custody and no injuries have been reported after an police standoff in Herrin.

It began around 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of South 12th Street. Herrin Police say a 28-year-old fired man a gun and then barricaded himself inside of a home for several hours.

Police from multiple jurisdictions responded as well as crisis negotiators.

The standoff came to a peaceful end around 1:45 a.m. Friday.
