ISP Arrest a Man for Cannabis Trafficking in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Illinois State Police have made an arrest for cannabis trafficking in Jefferson County.

On Wednesday, January 17, around 11:40 am, a trooper patrolling in the area of Interstate 64 eastbound near milepost 71 initiated a traffic stop after observing a car speeding.

The driver was identified as 48 year old Mikhail Subbotin of Lawrenceville, GA.

The smell of cannabis from the vehicle led to a search which revealed several boxes filled with suspected cannabis. Over 400 pounds of cannabis was removed from the vehicle.

Subbotin was arrested for Possession of Cannabis – More than 5000 grams, Cannabis Trafficking, and Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis.

Subbotin is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.
