Williamson County man arrested after 100+ mile high speed pursuit

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Carterville man with a history of leading police on high speed pursuits is behind bars after a chase late Friday night that lasted over 100 miles.

Dennis Hanson initially sped away from police in West Frankfort.  Driving a motorcycle, Hanson led law enforcement on a chase north on Interstate 57, exiting in Salem.  He continued west for a short time on State Route 50, until he was taken into custody in Sandoval.

Dennis Hanson was taken to the Williamson County Jail on two outstanding warrants; one out of Franklin County for aggravated DUI and one out of Williamson County for aggravated fleeing and eluding.  Hanson also faces new charges in connection to Friday night’s chase including of possession of methamphetamine, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and resisting a peace officer.
