CIL-FM’s Top 10 List: Who Should Bazzi Collaborate With?

At 20 years-old, Bazzi has a record deal with Atlantic, he’s on tour with Camilla Cabello and his debut album Cosmic dropped on April 12th.  He is someone who prides himself on making his own music without the help of others.  This is apparent with a track from Cosmic titled, “Myself.”  Spotify credits Bazzi with one feature, on a track from 2016 with Fancy Cars.  With that in mind, Jeremy of CIL-FM nights has compiled a list of the top ten collaborations that Bazzi should consider.

I previously mentioned that the two young stars are currently touring together, so they already have established a business relationship.  With Cabello being just 21 years of age, the two also have the similarity of being young pop stars.  If Cabello can dial it back and do a smooth, vocalized track, maybe a song where her and Bazzi trade verses, it would make for an easy-to-listen collab to speak to the youth.

  1. G4SHI

Bazzi has mentioned that a possible rap album could arise in the near future.  G4SHI and Bazzi have a similar style of music with unique voices and flows.  Like Bazzi, G4SHI does a lot of singing mixed in with solid rap bars.  Bazzi could also help G4SHI reach a mainstream audience with a clever collab effort.  I’m thinking G4SHI on the verses and Bazzi bringing home the hook.

  1. Halsey

Like Cabello, Halsey is also a young pop star (23 years old).  With a tantalizing voice behind strong lyrics, I think Halsey and Bazzi would be able to create a ballad for the troubled or confused youth.  I think a combo of singing/rapping like Bazzi does in the second half of “Mine” would play well in this figurative collaboration.

  1. Yellow Claw

Though known more their trap hits like “City On Lockdown” and “Sin City,” the Amsterdam duo have shown their ability to switch genres.  Songs like “Drowning In Champagne” and “Both of Us,” showcase the groups abilities in doing soft-EDM.  This is where Bazzi would shine.  Yellow Claw has experience with tremendous vocalists like Becky G and Naaz, and Bazzi could be the next name added to that list.  A soft beat, with reduced bass drop would allow Bazzi to showcase his smooth vocals and add some hip-hop bars to the track.

  1. J. Cole

I mentioned earlier that Bazzi has hinted as recording a rap album done the line.  Certainly after he develops more credibility from his fellow artists, big name artists are going to want to hop on a track with him.  J. Cole would make for a tremendous guest artist on a Bazzi rap album.  I think the song wouldn’t need a hook, as the two artists could just trade verses on a reflective record.

  1. Chance The Rapper

On his debut album Cosmic, Bazzi showcased the ability to make somber hits like “Mine” while mixing in upbeat records like “Star.”  A collab with Chance The Rapper would allow Bazzi to expand on the aspects of a positive, upbeat hit.

  1. Demi Lovato

Whereas Bazzi’s hypothetical collaboration with Cabello would be a more somber tone of a song, I think if Bazzi hopped on a track with Lovato he could do the opposite.  Lovato has been racking up summer hits with “Single For the Summer” and “Sorry Not Sorry.”  Bazzi could provide the hook for another Lovato summer smash.

  1. Childish Gambino

Gambino demonstrated his vocal range with the Grammy-nominated Awaken My Love! With Gambino hinting at a possible retirement from music after one more project, maybe Bazzi could provide the hook or a verse on a track looking back at Gambino’s long road through the rap game.  Bazzi’s smooth flow alongside Gambino’s equally smooth bars, would make for a peaceful outro on Gambino’s final project.

  1. Marshmello

The American DJ has climbed the ranks of the EDM and pop charts in a short amount of time.  During that time, Marshmello has showcased his ability to create heavy, trap inspired beats like Logic’s “Everyday” or “Danger.”  But he has also shown that he has a softer side with songs like “Wolves” and “Silence.”  If Marshmello can cook up another melodic sample like the ones he used with Selena Gomez and Khalid, letting Bazzi go to work on the verse and hook would create a masterpiece.

  1. The Weeknd

For the number one Bazzi future collaboration, I pick The Weeknd.  The sultry sounds that The Weeknd and Bazzi produce on each and every track, would make for a tremendous dual effort.  A Bazzi and The Weeknd collaboration could make for the perfect breakup song or, on the flip side, a wedding-style love song would work just fine for me.
