A former pastor of Lighthouse Apostolic Faith Church in Harrisburg is facing criminal charges in Moultrie County.
Danny Varnadore, who recently stepped down from his role as pastor, is scheduled to appear in court next week for a preliminary hearing on two counts of criminal sexual assault. Varnadore was arrested in November by Eldorado police on a warrant issued out of Moultrie County, near Sullivan. His preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
Following his arrest, the church released a statement acknowledging Varnadore’s departure and addressing the allegations. In the statement, church leaders said Varnadore resigned while maintaining his innocence, referring to allegations that date back to January 2024 during his time at First Apostolic Church of Sullivan. The statement also asked the community to keep the church and the Varnadore family in their prayers.
The church announced that Sister Varnadore will serve as lead pastor and will oversee services while the legal process continues.
