SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — Springfield area State Representative Mike Murphy has resigned his position.
The first term Republican’s retirement went into effect at just before midnight Tuesday.
Murphy’s district was mapped into the same district as fellow Republican Representative Avery Bourne. Murphy has taken a new job as the president and CEO of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
