The Frankfort Community Unit School District 168 Board of Education has approved a series of staffing reductions as it works to address a projected budget deficit of up to 900-thousand dollars for the 2026–2027 school year.
The decision came during this week’s board meeting, where officials said the district is required to begin the reduction-in-force process now under collective bargaining agreements.
The cuts include a mix of combined, reduced, and eliminated positions across all grade levels, including teaching roles, counselors, support staff, and administrative positions.
District leaders say the list is part of preliminary planning, and the final number of employees affected has not yet been determined.
