Authorities Respond to Bomb Threat at West City Business

Authorities responded to a bomb threat at a West City business late Sunday night.

According to the West City Police Department, the call came in at 10:31 p.m. on November 16. Multiple agencies assisted, including the Illinois State Police, West City Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, Benton Police Department, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Businesses in the immediate area were evacuated while crews secured the scene.

The Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad and explosive-detection K9 units conducted a full sweep of the property. By 12:02 a.m., officials determined the area was safe.
