Officers were first called on November 8th to the 500 block of South Illinois Avenue for a reported armed robbery. During that investigation, police uncovered a separate case involving Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
That led to arrest warrants for three suspects and a search warrant for a home in the 600 block of North Bridge Street.
On November 12th, around 8:40 a.m., officers served those warrants. Two juveniles were taken into custody on weapons charges. Police say new information led to the third warrant being dropped.
A judge ruled the juveniles could be detained, but probation officials couldn’t locate an open facility, so both were released to their families. Their names are not being shared under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The investigation is still active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Carbondale Police.
