Williamson County Ruling on Officer Involved Shooting

The Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office has concluded its independent review of an officer-involved shooting on June 6, finding the use of force justified.

The Sheriff’s Office stated when the incident took place, deputies responded to a 911 call about a male suspect who forced entry into a residence and the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Jesse Shelton of Marion, then fled into the woods when confronted by the female resident.

A Sheriff’s Office K9 led deputies to another residence where Shelton was found inside. The Sheriff’s Office then said Shelton had a firearm and pointed it at multiple deputies, leading a deputy to discharge his weapon, striking Shelton.

The State’s Attorney’s Office determined the deputy acted within the law and in defense of life and safety. Authorities said toxicology reports showed Shelton had methamphetamine in his system during the incident.
