The Fuller Dome Home Museum invites the community to celebrate Buckminster Fuller’s birthday at Bucky’s Birthday Block Party on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 5–9 PM at Forest and Cherry Streets in Carbondale. Mayor Carolyn Harvey will open the event by reading the proclamation officially recognizing July 12 as Buckminster Fuller Day in Carbondale.

At 5:15 PM, the Carbondale Peace Coalition will lead a brief ceremony as part of the Fourth Annual 24-Hour Global Peace Wave, joining voices across the world in a call for peace.
Live music will be featured throughout the evening with performances by Beth & Pocky, Loose Gravel, and Bite Risk, with Acumen closing out the celebration.

Family-friendly activities will include large-scale chalk art, the Bucky Bubble Experience, and a 16-foot Earth model display. Guided tours of the historic Dome Home will be offered continuously throughout the evening with a suggested donation, and guests will have opportunities for a rare glimpse inside the evolving Visitor Center during select guided previews.

The event will feature food and drinks from Taste & Live, Cielito Azul, and American Ice Cream, alongside the debut of the Fuller Dome Home’s new t-shirt design, available for purchase. Guests will also have the chance to win unique raffle prizes, including original artwork by Ben Louder crafted from repurposed redwood fencing from Buckminster Fuller’s historic home.

Funds raised will support the Fuller Dome Home nonprofit’s ongoing initiatives, including the continued care and preservation of the historic Dome, education and community programming, and laying the groundwork for the eventual completion of the Visitor Center—strengthening local engagement while building toward expanded global impact.

“This event is about celebrating Buckminster Fuller’s legacy while building a vibrant, connected community around his vision,” said Elizabeth Donoghue, Board President. “It’s a party, a learning opportunity, and a chance to support something that’s uniquely Carbondale.”

The event is free and open to the public, with donations encouraged throughout the evening. Guests are invited to bring chairs, water bottles, and coolers and to join in a relaxed evening of music, food, and community celebration. For more information, contact the organizers listed above.
