MT. VERNON Ill. (WJPF) A domestic disturbance call led to the arrest of a teen in Mt. Vernon.
Early May 7 around 2:30am, the sheriff’s office responded to a domestic disturbance call on Old Union Lane. The suspect and primary resident, 19 year old Chance Cruise displayed a firearm and fired it multiple times before barricading himself inside the house.
A perimeter was established and multiple efforts to communicate with Cruise failed. A search warrant was obtained, where a drone was used to fly inside and locate Cruise. He then surrendered and was taken into custody.
Cruise was taken to the Jefferson County Jail for Domestic Battery, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
He remains in custody to await his pre-trial detention hearing.
