Marion man arrested for multiple charges

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – A Marion man has been arrested for Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer.

Police responded to a disturbance at The Promise on the morning of March 26th, where a male subject was making threats towards staff and visitors.

The suspect, 39 year old Travis Owens, had left the initial location and was reported making similar threats at the Marion Ministerial Alliance. 

An officer attempted to resolve the situation by issuing a trespass warning for both locations. Owens refused multiple commands to leave the property and actively resisted, pulled away and physically struggled with officers.

Owens was eventually taken into custody facing charges of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer (2 counts), Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, Disarming a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest / Peace Officer, Threatening a Public Official, Trespass to Real Property, Disorderly Conduct, and Reckless Conduct.
