A Jefferson County 911 dispatcher is being recognized statewide for helping law enforcement quickly track down a homicide suspect.
Grace Cole has been named the Illinois Sheriff’s Association Telecommunicator of the Year for 2025. Officials say she gathered key details during a 911 call and helped coordinate information that led to the quick arrest of John Finney.
Finney is accused in the death of his wife and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.
Authorities say Cole’s actions played a critical role in the investigation.
