A Mount Vernon man has been sentenced to decades in prison after pleading guilty to charges involving child sexual abuse material.
Thirty-four-year-old Dustin Phillips was sentenced to 48 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by a Jefferson County judge. Phillips pleaded guilty to three counts of dissemination of child sexual abuse material, all Class X felonies.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, along with local and county law enforcement. Authorities executed a search warrant at Phillips’ residence in August of last year and reported finding evidence of the illegal material, leading to his arrest.
