Carbondale Opens Search for New Fire Chief

The City of Carbondale has officially launched its search for a new Fire Chief to lead the Carbondale Fire Department and oversee the city’s Emergency Management operations. The job posting went live on November 18.

According to the city, the Fire Chief will be responsible for directing all departmental functions, including fire suppression, emergency medical services, training, and public safety education.

Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of five years of experience in a senior fire officer position. The city says strong administrative experience and a demonstrated record of ethical leadership are key requirements.

The position offers a salary range between $118,000 and $128,000, plus a full benefits package.

Finalists will participate in a virtual interview followed by an Assessment Center evaluation.
