A Carmi man is facing DUI charges after driving a fan bus for the Carmi-White County volleyball team Monday night.
Authorities say 70-year-old Stephan Heath was behind the wheel when the bus failed to return on time from a playoff match in Bloomington. Concerned parents called police after learning there were about 40 students on board.
Heath was later charged in Bond County with driving under the influence and illegal stopping or parking.
The Carmi-White County School District says it’s aware of the incident and is investigating. Heath is due in court December 29th.
