A Pre-Trial Hearing Set for Man Charged With Murder

A Jefferson County man accused of killing his wife will face a jury early next year.

51-year-old John Finney is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife, 42-year-old Amy Finney.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted on September 1st after a witness reported concerning comments Finney made over the phone.

Officers later located Finney’s vehicle — a gray Ford Escape — on Illinois Highway 148. He was detained, and deputies discovered his wife’s body in the back of the vehicle.

Investigators believe the shooting happened at the couple’s home during a domestic dispute.
Finney remains in the Jefferson County Jail.

He’ll appear for a pre-trial hearing December 10th, with jury selection set to begin January 27th.
