The Frankfort Community Unit School District 168 Board has officially approved a new contract with West Frankfort teachers, represented by AFT Local 817.
The board voted 5 to 2 in favor of the agreement during Thursday night’s meeting. Earlier this week, teachers also voted to ratify the deal with the district.
The new contract comes after more than 20 bargaining sessions — and avoids a potential strike. Teachers had previously voted unanimously to authorize a walkout back on October 15th.
