Narcotics seized during Mt. Vernon traffic stop

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – Methamphetamine, cocaine, and cannabis were all confiscated during a traffic stop Sunday in Mount Vernon.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says Corey Williams, 54, was already known to police to have a suspended driver’s license. He was pulled over at about 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of South 17th Street and Casey Avenue when he was spotted behind the wheel.

Police say they found a large amount of drugs in the car and even more on Williams person when he was processed at the Jefferson County Jail.
