On Monday, the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Preseason Poll was released.
Five Missouri Valley Football Conference teams made the Top 25.
Southern Illinois, despite their 4-8 season in 2024, is ranked. The Salukis come in to the 2025 season ranked #20. SIU is one of just two teams in the Top 25 that had a losing record in 2024 – the other being #15 Sacramento State.
Other MVFC teams ranked include:
- North Dakota State, last year’s champion, is the preseason #1 team
- South Dakota State is #3
- South Dakota is #4
- Illinois State comes in at a surprising #6
SIU opens the season on Saturday, August 30th at home against Thomas More.
