Herring denied pretrial release; preliminary hearing set for late July

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Brian Herring, the Herrin man accused of a domestic battery over the weekend which left a woman in critical condition, appeared in a courtroom yesterday. He was ordered to remain behind bars until his case makes it’s way through the court system.

Online court documents show the 41-year-old has been charged with aggravated domestic battery by strangulation. He has not yet entered a plea. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30.

At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home on Circus Street in Herrin for a report of a domestic battery in progress. The victim had run to a neighbor’s for help. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition and placed on a ventilator. No update has been given on her condition.
