Woman arrested after trespassing on the scene of a homicide investigation

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A woman has been arrested after trespassing on the scene of a homicide investigation.

On Wednesday July 2nd around 8:00pm, deputies responded to a residence on Chittyville road that is the location of an ongoing homicide investigation.

Upon arrival, Deputies observed a vehicle departing the area and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Karli Betance of Benton

Betance admitted to driving around a locked gate with a “no trespassing” sign, entered the residence and photographed graphic images of the crime scene, and then stole property from the first and second floor.

Betance was cited for Burglary, Criminal Trespass to Residence, Theft, Disobey Stop Sign, Improper Lane Usage, Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Business Offense

She was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
