Perry County man convicted of federal firearm offense

SESSER, Ill. (WJPF) – A Du Quoin man has been convicted in federal court of illegally carrying a gun.

Marcus Moore, 42, was convicted this week on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.  His sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 7.  Moore faces up to 15 years in prison.

According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois, Moore was pulled over by Sesser Police in September 2023 and subsequently failed a field sobriety test. While being arrested, officers found a pistol strapped to his ankle.

Marcus Moore was on federal supervised release at the time of the arrest.
