Georgia man arrested in Carbondale on weapons charges

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A Georgia man has been arrested in Carbondale, accused of possessing a firearm illegally converted to be capable of firing at a fully automatic capacity.

Marques Estes, 26, was arrested late Wednesday night after he was involved in a fight in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane. Carbondale Police say Estes resisted arrest and was armed while scuffling with officers.

He was taken to the Jackson County Jail on charges of unlawful use of weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and resisting a peace officer.
