Mt. Vernon woman accused of shooting husband

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Mount Vernon woman is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly shooting her husband.

The incident happened Monday night at home in rural Franklin County.

Police say the husband was able to call for help. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

The wife, 49-year-old Clarissa Schilly, fled the scene but was located a short time later in Jefferson County. She’s facing charges of aggravated battery, aggravated illegal discharge of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Police say she also had an outstanding Franklin County warrant connected to a previous theft charge.
