Logan Softball’s Sami Scholtz named Region 24 Player of the Year

John A. Logan Softball ace Sami Scholtz was the easy pick for Region 24 Player of the Year on Wednesday.

Earlier this season, following a dominant Week 2 performance, Scholtz was named the NJCAA DI Pitcher of the Week.

Her dominance continued throughout the year.  The Fenton, Missouri native put together a 2-22 record across 32 appearances and 25 starts.  Scholtz logged 150 innings with a 1.07 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 200 strikeouts.  She also collected a pair of saves.

Scholtz had a total of 14 complete games with five shutouts.  She only gave up five home runs.

Scholtz was also named to the All-Region First Team and All-GRAC First Team alongside West Frankfort native Anna Rolla, Trista Moore, and Katie Futrell.  Audrey Upton and Skylar Rachal were named All-Region Second Team as well as All-GRAC Second Team.
