Salukis coax Mayo Jr. away from Missouri State

Monday evening, SIU men’s basketball received another commitment.  This time, they went within the Missouri Valley Conference and nabbed Missouri State’s Damien Mayo Jr.

Mayo, who started 21 of 29 contests for the Bears this past season, is a former 3-star prospect.  He averaged 5.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in Springfield, Missouri this past year.

The 6’3 guard shot 53.1 percent from the field last season.

Mayo is the fifth player to commit to next year’s team outside of the program and the sixth overall.  He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Mayo was a Missouri Valley Conference State Farm Good Neighbor Award recipient for the 2022-23 season.
