Tuesday night, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants will play in the 2024 Field of Dreams game. The game will take place at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Dyersville, Iowa site, which hosted the first two iterations of the game, is currently under construction. No game is salted for this season at the site.
Rickwood Field is one of just two Negro League ballparks still standing. Giants legend and MLB Hall of Famer Willie Mays played at Rickwood Field when he was a member of the Birmingham Black Barons in 1948 before coming to Major League Baseball.
