Guns, ammo found during Marion traffic stop

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – For the third time in under two weeks, guns were found during a routine traffic stop in Marion.

This latest incident happened around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Marion Police say Malik Evans, 22, was initially pulled over for speeding and illegal lane usage.  A loaded rifle was lying on the passenger side floorboard.  A pistol was on the front passenger seat.  Both had high capacity magazines and bother were within arms reach of the driver.

Malik Evans was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and issued two traffic citations.  He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
