MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti says he’ll resign later this month and take a job at a private law firm.
Zanotti was appointed to the office in the fall of 2014. His last day will be July 22. He’ll become the new managing partner at Sam C. Mitchell and Associates.
Zanotti says his May arrest for DUI did not factor into his decision to resign and that the plan had been in the works for month.
In the coming days, an interim state’s attorney will be appointed and a special election will have to be held in November.
