Measure to provide youth in DCFS care with transition support heads to Governor Pritzker

Two bills are headed to Governor JB Pritzker’s desk that hope to protect youth in the care of DCFS.

The first bill will provide children with intervention and counseling services after they are removed from a home. The second will require an interview for every child five and over within five days of leaving foster care.

The bill will require that children report their interactions with guardians and foster parents.

Further, under the measure, youth in DCFS care would be provided a document that describes inappropriate acts of affection, discipline and punishment by guardians, foster parents and foster siblings.
