MULKEYTOWN, Ill. (WJPF) — One person was killed, five more were hurt in a single-vehicle crash in Mulkeytown.
It happened at about 3:35 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Routes 184 and 14.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Michael McClanahan, 18, was driving north on 184 when he failed to stop at a stop sign, travelled through the intersection, and hit an embankment.
McClanahan, as well as passengers including a 17-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl, and two 13-year-old girls were taken to the hospital for their injuries. 20-year-old passenger Aaron Reed of Mt. Vernon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
