One of the highest profile murder cases in the area officially has a trial date.
23-year-old Gaege Bethune, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Pravin Vargughese.
Varughese was reported missing in February of 2014, his body was found in a patch of woods on the east side of Carbondale five days later.
An initial investigation found no signs of foul play. But a second, private autopsy ordered by the Varughese family indicated the SIU students death was caused by blunt force trauma. Bethune was subsequently charged with murder and he turned himself in to authorities.
The trial is scheduled to begin June 4.
