The Murphysboro City Council has voted to sue the Union Pacific Railroad over ownership of portion of North 23rd Street.
The railroad claims they own it, and want residents to pay a fee to use the road to access their homes. Otherwise, they consider it trespassing.
The city claims they own it, or at least they should, they’ve been maintaining the road for over 15 years.
