Mixing commercial drain cleaner and bleach turned out to be fatal for a Grand Tower man.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a man and woman were trying to clear a clogged drain Tuesday when they mixed the chemicals creating a poisonous gas.
The man was overtaken by the gas an unable to make it out of the home. He died at the scene. The woman did make it out of the house. She was flown to a St Louis hospital for treatment.
