According to new numbers from the state department of employment security, Southern Illinois is home to the counties with both the best and worst jobless rate in the state.
Washington County’s unemployment rate is the lowest state-wide at 2.7% Further south, Alexander County has the highest unemployment rate at 8.5%. Pulaski county not far behind at 8.3%
State wide, the unemployment rate is 4.7%
