State police say one person was killed, one seriously injured yesterday in a head-on crash on route 15 west of Ashley.
A preliminary investigation revealed that 35-year-old Matthew McKinley, of Coulterville, was driving west when his Cadillac entered the east bound lane of traffic and into the path of a pickup driven by 40-year-old Michael Barfield of Nashville, IL.
The impact of the crash ejected Mckinley from his car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Barfield had to be cut out of his pickup. He was airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.
Route 15 was closed for nearly 5 hours while police where on the scene.
