CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A full scale tornado response exercise is set for today.
The exercise will test emergency plans, communications systems, resource coordination, damage assessment procedures, shelter operations and interagency decision-making under realistic disaster conditions.
The multi-agency police and emergency management agency exercise is set from noon to 4pm, and will impact a few areas on the west side of the SIU campus.
Parking lots 59 and 63 will be closed today. A Medivac helicopter will be landing in the grass area near lot 63. An increase in emergency vehicle activity and emergency personnel will be at designated exercise locations along Chautauqua Road.
No buildings will be used in the exercise and traffic will not be impacted.
