Governor JB Pritzker says he will sign a bill to ban the use of cellphones in IL schools.
Senate Bill 2427 requires all public and charter school districts to adopt and implement policies restricting student cellphone use during instructional time.
The bill was passed by lawmakers and aims to reduce distractions in the classroom and improve student focus and mental health.
The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 55-2.
