Saluki Track and Field add former NJCAA DIII National Champion as mid year transfer

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University track and field program under the direction of Rosalind Joseph announced the addition of Elisia Lancaster, a mid-year transfer thrower from Towson University to the 2020-21 roster.

“I’m excited to add Elisia Lancaster to the Southern Illinois Track & Field family,” said Joseph. “Elisia will be a great addition to our program as we continue to put the pieces together to compete for a Missouri Valley Conference championship.”

A native of Glassboro, New Jersey, Lancaster competed in eight meets during the 2019-20 indoor season, including the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, where she placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 19.67m (64-6.5). In total, Lancaster placed in the top-five of the weight throw and shot put at six of the eight meets she participated in.

“Elisia will be added to a great group of training partners,” said Saluki throws coach J.C. Lambert. “She will help the depth of the throwers and will make an immediate impact. I have some big goals for my women throwers and she will certainly help them achieve those goals.”

Prior to her first year at Towson, Lancaster competed at Rowan College-Gloucester. At Rowan, Lancaster was a six-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III national champion and earned All-American status six times. Additionally, she was twice-named the NJCAA Athlete of the Year.

Lancaster will join the Saluki program with personal-bests of 13.39m (43-11.25) in the shot put, 55.52m (182-2) in the hammer throw, 40.44m (132-8) in the discus throw and 19.74m (64-9.25) in the weight throw.
