Carbondale Police investigating two reports of shots fired

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — A Marion man has been arrested in connection to a pair of shootings in Carbondale.

Police first responded to a shots fired call at 11:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of East Larch Street. No injuries were reported, but a vehicle and home were damaged gunfire.

Then, at 1:55 a.m. Thursday, police responded to another shots fired call in the 1000 block of North Robert A Stalls Avenue. Again, no injuries were reported, but a vehicle was hit by multiple bullets.

While responding to the second shots fired call, police saw a vehicle speed away from the crime scene. The driver of that vehicle, Ferontay Johnson, 20, was eventually arrested on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use Of A Weapon and Obstructing Justice.

An investigation if ongoing regarding Johnson’s connection to the shots fired call on East Larch Street.
