Former Saluki Cook Transferring to Gonzaga

CARBONDALE — After one week of being in the NCAA transfer portal, Aaron Cook made his choice on Tuesday night and announced on Twitter that he would be joining the Gonzaga Bulldogs for the upcoming 2020-2021 college basketball season.

Cook played just six games for the Salukis this past season before suffering a broken hand at Murray State.  Cook was leading SIU in scoring at that point in the season with 15ppg.  Through 103 games in four seasons, Cook averaged 8.3 ppg, 2.5 apg, 1.9 rpg, and 1.3 spg for SIU.

Cook joins a Zags squad that is deep at the guard position with two juniors, one redshirt junior, and one sophomore.  Gonzaga will be able to utilize Cook’s experience and leadership even more with a youthful core that consists of nine juniors and sophomores next season and just one senior at this time.
