MARION, IL. (WJPF) – A Hurst woman has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter. Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zannotti says the indictment is in connection to the worst cast of elder abuse his office has ever seen.

47-year-old Mary Clay is accused of failing to properly care for her mother, 75-year-old Dorothy Mize, to the extent that it led to her death earlier this year.

A contributing factor in her death included sepsis due to a leg that had to be amputated because of necrosis, ulcers, and malnutrition.

Clay is being held on a $250,000 bond.
