WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL. (WJPF) – A Johnston City woman was injured in a two vehicle traffic accident in Williamson County.
It happened around 2:45 PM Thursday on Route 37 at the intersection of Lake of Egypt Road.
State Police say that 49-year-old Diane Cavender was stopped on the highway waiting for traffic to clear to turn into Lake of Egypt Road when she was rear-ended by a car driven by 33-year-old Shanta Bell of Ullin.
Cavender was taken to a local hospital for the treatment of her injuries. Bell was uninjured in the accident, but did receive a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
