Hey, what’s up guys? I’m Michael Roberts, and I’ve been on the radio since I was a sophomore in high school. My main work has been in the field of sports, but can talk about almost anything (except celeb gossip; I’ll leave that to Nina).
I was introduced to radio by Gary Martin in 2009, who put me on color commentary for Murphysboro High School athletic events. Last year, I appeared on Lia ‘n Jonny in the Morning to promote a local service project I was in charge of. That short time on the air showed me that I wanted to work for River Radio; so when Gary Martin told me CIL was looking for someone on the air, I jumped at the opportunity as soon as I could. It’s been nothing but up from there and I have loved every moment working at CIL.
When I’m not working for CIL, I work for 103.5 ESPN operating the sound boards during Carterville Lions basketball games, and broadcasting daily sports reports for WSIU-FM in Carbondale. When I’m not on the air, I am a student at John A. Logan College, working as a sportswriter for the college newspaper.
If you want to send me an E-quest, or just to chat, hit me up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/79forever and I am @OfficialMJR79 on Twitter. All I have left to say is I hope to be on the air more often and thanks for listening!
