Investigation of E. Coli outbreak in romaine lettuce expands

Public health officials are expanding their investigation of an e. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce.

The CDC is now looking at full heads and hearts of romaine not just chopped that may be contaminated with e. coli and making people sick. state department of public health spokesperson Melaney Arnold says you need to avoid all romaine from the Yuma, Arizona area.

There have been 53 cases of e. coli infection in 16 states so far with just one from Illinois.
