The Cook County Board voted 15-2 Wednesday to end a penny-per-ounce tax on soda and other sugary drinks.
The controversial tax has been in effect for just more than two months following a legal battle.
Board President Toni Preckwinkle hasn’t said whether she’ll veto the repeal measure. Those supporting repeal say they have enough votes to override any potential veto.
Preckwinkle has said a repeal could mean budget cuts and layoffs.
